The Historic Windsor Hotel Bed and Breakfast was originally built in 1884 and opened as the New Windsor Hotel. It was a miners' hotel at that time, providing a place for silver miners to stay and dine. When the Sherman Act made silver mining unprofitable, the town closed up businesses, and miners relocated to other towns to mine gold. The New Windsor became a boarding house for many years, and even Tesla, Edison, and his son frequented the place. Eventually, it evolved into a family home and remained a part of the same family until 2013. In 2014, new owners took over, making it the first time in over 100 years that the hotel changed hands.
Historic Windsor Hotel reopened its doors to become a bed and breakfast, a safe place to pull off for the night from the harsh conditions, a respite from city life and simply a community inside the walls of this hotel so close to amazing outdoor experiences. Allowing guests to enjoy stepping back in time and immersing themselves in our authentic mining town in such an amazingly preserved hotel.
Each room is as unique as our guests. Bathroom is shared with multiple guests. the sink and claw foot tub room have all your bathroom essentials and the water closet is separate, making sharing facilities as simple as can be. The hallway is lit throughout the night so even late night trips are hassle free. Wifi connection is seamless and quick. It can get quite chilly in the winter months up here. We have extra blankets to help keep warm.
